This is brighter than the actual lighting. It was so dark, the camera couldn't auto-focus, so I was using manual focus.
This is the same shot, cropped differently. Both are about 1/2 the original image. Manual focus was key to this level of detail.
It took a half-second exposure to get this kind of light. (I also brightened it in post processing.) The light in the kitchen is from a very dim over-the-oven light.
And here's what we got the next time we used the camera... Auto-focus was still turned off... Every day is check settings day.
